attend the University of
Montana’s Environmental
Writing Institute in 1998 to
study with the celebrated fiction
and nature writer Rick Bass. He
is a recipient of the Kentucky Arts
Council’s Al Smith Individual Artist
Fellowship (2012) and Professional
Assistance Award (2004). He lives
in his native Kentucky.
